Our experienced valuers are regularly appointed to act as an Expert Witness in connection with property valuation related disputes such as arise in negligence claims and matrimonial disputes. Such appointments are often made jointly by the solicitors representing the parties to a dispute or can also be made by the President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
We are also appointed from time to time by solicitors representing professional indemnity insurers in potential professional negligence claims involving valuation issues. Steven Murray has acted as an Expert Witness on behalf of insurers for the solicitors’ master policy scheme and given evidence in the High Court.
As well as preparing and presenting cases to independent experts and arbitrators as an Expert Witness in commercial rent review disputes Ray has presented expert valuation evidence in the High Court, including in the leading dilapidations case of Ultraworth v General Accident and another (2000), and County Courts.
Steven Murray regularly gives evidence as an Expert Witness to Valuation Tribunals in connection with business rate appeals and at Inquiries relating to Compulsory Purchase Orders.
